How did this happen?

Because hot water spread the particles around

Questions:

What are the ideas from today?

I learnt that if you want to dissolve something in a cup of water, there is a way that can dissolve faster, you put hot water in the cup and stir it around it will dissolve faster if you use cold water.

What factors affect dissolving?

If you don't Stir it, the sugar will dissolve slower than is you stir it, and if you use hot water it will dissolve faster than cold water.

Discussion:

The experiment shows that hot water + stir is the best to dissolve something fast in these 4 groups.

And the experiment shows that cold water + no stir is the slowest dissolving in these 4 groups.

 1. Was your business a success? Why/Why not?

It was, we are doing a game so at the start, there are not many people coming, after 10 minutes there is a lot of people coming but we only have limited rings, but we still work it out, at last, we are running out of all our prizes.

2. How much profit you made/lost?

I think we made $20 or more profit.

3. 3 things you learnt from B&E.

I learnt how to sale our product easier.

I learnt how to manage our business.

I learnt how to work as a team and help each other.

4. What things would you change next time?

If we are doing ring toss again next time I will get enough rings and prizes.

5. High lights from the day.

Lincoln C & Jeff L Sustainability Investigation

 Sustainability Investigation

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Our topic

Which part of the school has the most rubbish on the ground

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Problem/& Plan:

Identify a Sustainability topic you can investigate

Plan out how you will collect data

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Plan: Go around the school and find out where the most rubbish is. The area we are going to see is the field,  basketball courts, playground, etc, and we’ll put the numbers on a tally table then see where is the most area that has the most rubbish.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Data Collection:

Collect your data.

Note any issues with accuracy.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Issues: are that we might miss some and that some of them don’t really count as rubbish

Table/ Tally chart

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Analysis & Conclusion:

1x graph - either line, pie, or bar

Use data to answer your problem

Area

Total rubbish

Field

207

2 basketball court and 1 netball court

46

Between the Kahuis

13

Playground

53

Learning commons

23

Quad

223

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Lincoln’s Conclusion: I’m more impressed with the results in the Quad because I know that a lot of people hang out there because it’s winter and all, and since that no one really doesn’t want to go to the field there is actually less rubbish in the field. The least rubbish is between the Kahuis. This comes to show that people need to put rubbish in the bin instead of just trying to hide it so that they don’t get in trouble making it. So basically they are just lazy and just can’t be bothered.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jeff’s Conclusion: I’m surprised because I thought that field is more rubbish than the Quad because there are more people going to the field, but there is more rubbish at the Quads, I think the cause is because people always eating when they walk around and just put the rubbish on the ground, maybe they try to put the rubbish in the Quads to hide it so the teacher can’t see the rubbish and so the teacher doesn’t know is whos and the people put the rubbish in there don’t get into trouble.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Advance: I think that we need to add more rubbish bin to the walkways and behind the fake grass hill so people can put the rubbish in the bin, not on the ground or the Quads, and I think people should get a small bag when they finish eating so they can put there own rubbish in their own bag.

Jeff and Benjamen's - Community garden

Why a sustainable garden is a good idea:

The reason the sustainable garden is a good idea is that it can sustain a family when veggies and fruits are picked, more can be planted if there are seeds to be planted. If no chemicals are used and all are grown normally then this will be mother nature friendly.

Where this garden is located:

In our backyard where it will be easily reachable.

How many plots will be built:

7 plots will be planted each with different vegetables and fruits for the family of 4.

The size of each plot:

Trapezium 1: 12

Circle 1 & 2: 3.5

The volume of soil required to fill the plots:

80 x 85.5= $6840

The layout of the garden:

Cost of the soil and garden borders:

3.5x85.5=$299.25

299.25+6840=$7139.25

Summary:

Sustainable gardens should become a property which most should have,

they are helpful to nature and use no harmful chemicals or very few amounts.

Our garden shows shapes which work well and take up an amount of space

where veggies and fruits can be accessed easily. It is tight in some areas but

can be worked around, this type of garden is eco-friendly and can be very useful.

Only payments needing to be made after the garden has been started will be new soil or seeds.
